Melanie Thewlis (melmo)
Melanie Thewlis is a web developer and multimedia artist living in Berlin, Germany. She has collaborated on a diverse range of projects ranging from public murals to dance performances to live projection drawing. She is passionate about feminism in tech, social justice, data privacy, and the role of technology in shaping our political and social future.
Melanie holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Melbourne University and is currently completing a Bachelor of Creative Computing with Goldsmiths College at the University of London. Her thesis work for this degree involves developing an “Incredible Machine” multiplayer game in vvvv that uses Box2D physics combined with augmented reality techniques.
She is a co-founder of Little Web Giants, a web development and online marketing agency that specialises in supporting non-profit organisations and the renewable energy industry. She is a member of the Berlin Geekettes, the TrafoPop wearable art collective, and an organizer of Wear It, Berlin's first wearable technology festival.
