3D Printing - vvvv and OpenSCAD

3D Printing - vvvv and OpenSCAD

This workshop, suitable both for total beginners and for people who already have experience with vvvv and/or 3d printing, gives a practical introduction into 3D printing in general. Further it covers the usage of OpenSCAD, a scripting CAD modeller, in vvvv to create 3d objects suitable for 3d print.

The 3d objects created by the participants will be shown in a little exhibition after the workshop, and can be taken home as a souvenir afterwards.

In detail we cover the following topics during the workshop:

  • Little overview over 3d printing techniques, brands, materials

  • How to prepare 3d objects to make them printable on an FDM printer

  • Using depth sensors (kinect and the like) to 3d-scan

  • Practical everyday tips and tricks (to solve problems like warping of parts, making parts stable, parts finishing methods, etc)

  • How to use CURA (a slicer generating the machines toolpath)

  • Patching OpenSCAD scripts in vvvv

  • Using a Raspberry Pi and OctoPrint for convenient printing over wifi
